A constant water temperature: safe and comfortable.

It’s a frequent occurrence: a shower that suddenly turns too hot or too cold. Even when the water temperature has been set properly, it’s still possible for it to fluctuate from one moment to the next. This is problematic, particularly in the care sector, where individuals may have slower reaction times, reduced mobility and more sensitive skin. This can lead to incidents such as burns and falls as a result of being startled.

Temperature changes are the result of fluctuations in pressure within the water system. A pressure fluctuation can occur, for instance, when you turn on a shower or tap, flush a toilet or switch on a dishwasher or washing machine. In short: every time the water system is used, the pressure within it will fluctuate. In large water systems, the only constant factor is the constantly shifting pressure.

HL2024 eliminates the effects of pressure fluctuations and, in doing so, reduces most temperature changes to an imperceptible level. Consequently, HL2024 also ensures a significant reduction in the likelihood of burns and falls. In addition to enhancing water safety in the shower, HL2024 also helps increase user comfort by delivering not only a constant temperature but a constant flow as well.

Conservation and savings.

Many times, one shower will deliver more water than another. This is because the pressure is not equal at every point within a water system. Rooms located near the pump will often receive too much water (high pressure), while the rooms furthest from the pump will usually receive too little water (low pressure).

HL2024 establishes a fixed rate of water consumption at each draw-off point. This way, each and every room receives the right, optimum volume of water, every time. Not too little, not too much – always exactly enough! In this way, HL2024 automatically conserves water and energy (i.e. the energy used to heat warm water). And that means HL2024 reduces CO2 emissions as well. Which can really add up in places where a great deal of water is used.

Another benefit of setting a fixed water usage is that the installation will stabilise and an even water pressure will be maintained. The result is that the pump capacity required is less. On top of that, this yields savings in the energy used by the pump. HL2024 also makes water consumption predictable. It will be clear in advance exactly how much water and energy the system needs and uses. Which means you’ll never again encounter unpleasant surprises.

In short, HL2024 delivers savings in a number of areas while optimising your water system at the same time. This enhances the comfort of your clients or patients without them having to change their behaviour; it also benefits both your wallet and our planet. Everyone wins.

Case study: HL2024 in ‘Het Hooge Heem’ care centre

Case study: HL2024 in ‘Het Hooge Heem’ care centre

The problem

Residential care centre ‘Het Hooge Heem’ (The Netherlands) was receiving complaints from residents on a daily basis with regard to unpleasant and sometimes hazardous fluctuations in temperature and flow while showering. The cause of the problem (and the complaints) lay in pressure fluctuations within the system, which carry over into the thermostatic mixer tap in the shower and therefore impact the output temperature and flow rate.

The solution

To install a pressure-independent flow controller, the HL2024 Connect, between the existing S connection and the thermostatic mixer tap.

Results

No more complaints regarding temperature fluctuations in the shower. Shower comfort has increased thanks to a much more consistent (and not too high) temperature, as well as a consistent quantity of water. Both the residents and the management are extremely satisfied.
